). Syrian Hamsters - They are often called the golden hamster or the "Teddy Bear Hamster".  Syrians have different fur types. Some petstores give hamsters with different fur types nick names and say it's rare (so, dont be fooled). There is no such hamster as the "Panda Bear Hamster" Or "Calico" Hamsters (and other nicknames) , just different fur types of syrian hamsters. There are also NO Calico patterns on a hamster, ONLY on CATS. They are very solitary, so they can NEVER BE KEPT TOGETHER , only for a few weeks after birth. Great for children, and they are very brave. They are more of a playing pet. They can be handled a little roughly then dwarfs (Dwarfs, are very fragile). They are not prone to diabetes.

). Winter White Hamsters (DWARF)- They got their name "Winter White hamster" , because their fur color turns white in the winter if their cages are next to a window. I Do NOT recommend putting hamster cages next to a window that is opened in winter. (If Hamsters are also exposed to TOO MUCH sunlight, they can have a heat stroke or pass away).  They can be kept together, If INTRODUCED CORRECTLY (NOT RECOMMENDED). They are more of a watching pet. Recommended for adults or older children. They are prone to diabetes.

). Chinease Hamsters - they are NOT a TRUE dwarf , but they are a similar size as dwarfs. They CAN NOT be kept together, because they are very solitary as well. They can be very aggressive to other hamsters, and well... YOU, but all hamsters have different personalities (Some hamsters can be more of a watching pet). They are more of a watching pet. Recommended for adults or older children. They are prone to diabetes.

). Campell hamsters(DWARF)- They can be called winter white russian hamsters. There are different colors and fur types in campbell hamsters. They tend to be more aggressive. Recommended for adults or older children. More Of a watching pet. They are prone to diabetes.

). Robo hamsters (Roborovski hamsters)- They are the longest living, and the fastest dominant hamsters. They are VERY Fast, and very fragile. They are recommended for ADULTS. More of a watching pet. Might be kept together if possible.  They are NOT prone to diabetes.

There are 5 species of hamsters.
